“Dear young people, let yourselves be taken over by the light of Christ, and spread that light wherever you are.”

-Saint John Paul II

Educational Philosophy

The Catholic faith holds a central position in the educational philosophy of Saint John Paul II School. Our mission emphasizes the importance of inspiring students to deepen their knowledge of and love for God, fostering a foundation that empowers them to love and serve others. Guided by Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, who serves as both our exemplar and our means, we recognize the invaluable influence of parents, teachers, administrators, board of directors, and priests. Their dedication not only in words but also through their actions serves as a vital testament to the Christian message.

We believe that the teaching of our Catholic faith transcends classroom instruction or participation in liturgical events; it permeates every aspect of our lives. Christianity is not merely a subject to be taught but a way of life to be lived out authentically. Our aim is to cultivate an environment where students’ faith and moral character can flourish and mature organically, integrated into all facets of their daily activities.

Education In Virtue

Virtue formation remains a critical component of the mission of SJPII. Strong cultural influences often oppose the Christian moral values this school strives to uphold and impart. Children require continuous reminders that genuine happiness comes from pursuing virtue. Inspired by the teachings of St. Thomas Aquinas, this program offers a consistent framework to help students develop the habits and dispositions needed to truly thrive and become exemplary leaders in their communities.

Saint John Paul II School & the Common Core Standards

As a private school, we are not required to follow the standards set by federal and state policymakers. Rather than adopting the Common Core standards, Saint John Paul II School embraces the renewal of the mind, will, and imagination inspired by our Catholic identity. Our core is unique, grounded in the singular person of Jesus Christ.
